Toxic weed troubles spread 'wildly' by Ottawa residents

Concerns about wild parsnip, which has closed portions of the Rideau Trail and recently burned a Renfrew, Ont., resident, are spreading just like the toxic weed.

It seems concerns about the spread of wild parsnip goes far beyond areas ofsouth Ottawa, as residents in other areas of the citysay the toxic weeda plant that can burn skin and even cause blindness plaguesthe region.

Earlier this month, a woman in Renfrew alsosuffered bad burns, which renewed fears about dangers around the toxic weed.

This has prompted Ottawahealth officials to warn the public about the weed. It also supplied the public with some safety tips.
