Name those beehives: Naming rights open for bee education project

Charlottetown's Urban Beehive Project is looking for names for the two hives it has built behind the Legacy Garden.

Architect Shallyn Murray of BGHJ Architects, the company behind the project, said the two beehives call out for names.

"They have a lot of personality," said Murray.

"There's been a lot of naming already, We've heard them called quite a few things so far."

The buildings holding the bees look vaguely like angular humanoids, one shorter and squatter than the other. Around the BGHJ office they are currently known as Skinny and Chubs, but the firm is looking for suggestions for permanent names.

It has about 10 entries and ishoping for more. The winner gets bragging rights. The names will be put on plaques on the bee hives, along with the name of the person who came up with them.

You can email your entry to the Urban Beehive Project. The winner will be announced at a grand opening Sept. 23.
