Charlottetown launches water use survey

The City of Charlottetown has launched a second water conservation survey.

It asks residents about their water use and their efforts to reduce water consumption. It also asks if their views on water conservation have changed at all since the last survey was conducted in 2011.

A drought last summer focused attention on the city's water supply problem. It is approaching the limit of what it is allowed to pump from its wells in the Winter River watershed. Mayor Clifford Lee is hoping many residents have had a change of heart about water use.

The survey has been mailed out to a sample of utility customers but is also available on the city's web-site. Lee says the survey results will be used when applying for infrastructure money. Responses will be accepted until March 29.

Participants names will be entered into a draw to win a $250 credit toward their Charlottetown water and sewer utility bill.
