There will be no beer served at Mudmen RFC games in Charlottetown.

The club in Charlottetown has withdrawn its request to serve beer at home games, following a frothy town hall meeting Wednesday night in West Royalty Community Centre.

"As they were talking and the points that they were making, I totally agree with them. And I kind of just made a judgment call to say that it's not the right angle for our team," said club president Phil Gallant.

"We want to keep these people as fans and friends of the team and not work against them, so we thought that we would withdraw the beer tent request."

Residents at gave city councillors an earful for even considering allowing alcohol to be served in city parks. The Mudmen Rugby Football Club play home games in Charlottetown's Queen Elizabeth Park.

The Mudmen's next home game is July 16 against the Halifax Tars. The drinking of beer will have to wait until after the game.
