Chase the Ace Tignish, P.E.I., winner Keaton Noye draws lucky card to win $734K jackpot

Keaton Noye from Tyne Valley, P.E.I., won$734,000 after pulling the ace of spades in the Chase the Ace fundraiser Friday night in the tiny western Island community of Tignish.

The lottery event has been a huge draw since January, with thousands hoping for the chance to take home the grand prize.

Noye, 22, says he went in on the draw with 17 other people. They will each get $40,000 of the jackpot.

Noye also won more than $55,000 in his take of the 50/50 draw.

Chase the Ace raised money for the Royal Canadian Legion in Tignish and the local fire department, but ultimately helped the entire community of fewer than 800 people.

"Everybody benefits here in this little townbecause people come in," said Harvey Myers, manager of the Credit Union Arena, in September.

"They're getting gas, they're getting coffeeand they're getting whateverand they're going to spend it [money]."

Just last week, organizers said Dec.18 would be the last day for Chase the Ace because the Island Storm basketball team needed the floorfor its season start.

The plan was to keep drawing Friday night until the ace of spades was pulled.
