Clifford Lee wants to hold on to his job as mayor of Charlottetown.

He held a news conference Wednesday to announce his plans to seek a fourth term.

"I think over the last number of months, there has been a rumour out there in our community that I had other political aspirations and, quite honestly, I wanted to put them to rest," said Lee.

"I have no intention of seeking any other office other than that of mayor of the City of Charlottetown. And my commitment is, if re-elected in November, to complete the four-year term."

Lee saidthere is still work to be done, such as the completion of a new water supply for the city.

He said the city will continue to work on economic and tourism development, noting that a major announcement is expected in the next few weeks that will mean 125 new jobs coming to the city.

"I have had the pleasureand support of the citizens of Charlottetown for the last 11 years to serve as their mayor," said Lee. "I, quite frankly, have truly enjoyed the opportunity to improve the quality of life here in the city and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to do that."

So far, no one else has announced plans to run for the top job in the city.

Most of the council was in attendance for the announcement.

The municipal election will be held in November.
