Closing arguments heard in case of paralyzed cyclist

Closing arguments were made at the trial of a driver accused in connection with a crash that left a cyclist paralyzed.

The Crown and defence lawyers spent time Friday summarizing their cases for the judge.

Provincial Court Judge John Douglas is scheduled to give a decision on the case September 26.

Jordan Arsenault-Loeman, 25, of Saint John, N.B.,is accused under the P.E.I. Highway Traffic Act of making an unsafe turn.

Hepleaded not guilty to the charge.

The collision happened in Charlottetown on Aug.1, 2015.

Alan Stanley, 60, was with a group of 20 to 30 other cyclists on Brackley Point Road when his bike collided with anoncoming car.

The crash left him paralyzed from the chest down.
