Damaged HotSpot stickers set to be replaced

HotSpot Parking stickers that have worn away or been damaged will be replaced saysPaul Johnston, manager of Charlottotown'spublic works department.

The companythat owns thesmart metre parking programis printing the new replacement numbers for the 15 to 20 that need to be replaced.

"We expect to get them in the next two or three weeks and begin installing them."

Johnston said overall, theHotSpotpay-by-phone application has been cost neutral to the city on the operation side.

300 meters in service

Charlottetown has been involved in the program for three years with 300 parking meters set up for HotSpot payments

Johnston said during that time some of the stickers may have been come off because of a lack of adhesive or had others things placed over them.

"It's been relatively a very small number and really hasn't been a major issue annually until this point in time that we sort of reach that critical mass."

Johnston said with people making use of the HotSpotenabled parking meters everyday, when they can't read the numbered sticker to make the payment, the city hears about it.

City staff do watch for damaged stickers but he said if someone has an issue they can contact public works with a good description of where the meter is located.
