High winds limit traffic on Confederation Bridge

Some vehicles have been restricted from crossing the Confederation Bridge on Thanksgiving Mondaydue to high winds.

The restrictions were put in place shortly before 12 p.m.

Restricted vehicles include automobilestowing trailers, motorcycles, high-sided vehicles including trucks, tractor trailers, recreational vehiclesand buses.

As a result, East Prince RCMP are advising people to expect delays as they leave the Island.

"Due to ongoing high winds and heavy raintraffic is backed up from the ConfederationBridgetothe Albany Y. Please slow down and travel with caution as traffic is moving slowly at this time," saidConst Frank Stevenson said in a news release.

A rainfall warning was issued for parts of the Island Monday. The forecast also called forstrongnortherly winds gusting up to 80 km/h that will affect the province later this afternoon and continue throughout the evening.
