iPod contract brings 100 jobs

On-Line Support has landed a contract to provide technical support for one of the hottest MP3 players, the Apple iPod.

On-Line Support has landed a contract to provide technical support for one of the hottest MP3 players, the Apple iPod.

The iPod holds up to 10,000 songs, yet it slips easily into your pocket.

The contract with On-Line Support will mean 100 new jobs for the Island PEI company.

Kent McPhee of On-Line Support says his company approached Apple awhile ago, but at the time, Apple didn't need his services. But when Apple did need a call centre, it remembered On-Line Support.

"It will broaden our resume. I think the Apple brand is perhaps one of the best in the world," says McPhee.

"I think landing this contract will give credence to even bigger companies giving us opportunities."

A news conference outlining more details is planned for later this week. MacPhee won't say how long the contract is for, or how much it's worth, but will say he doesn't think finding enough qualified staff on the Island will be a problem.

On-Line Support is a Charlottetown-based company with locations in Montague and Dartmouth that employs more than 500 people.
