Meaghan Blanchard, Gordie MacKeeman headline Turkey Drive wrap-up

Blanchard, Matthews and MacKeeman? No Matt And Mitch don't have a new law firm. Those are some of the musicians who'll be playing live on Island Morning from the CBC Lobby onFriday Dec. 18.

You're invited as the CBC Turkey Drive will wrap up with a live party at 430 University Ave. in Charlottetown. There'll be plenty of music and a final chance for Islanders to donate to the turkey drive.

Organizers of the drive are looking to collect 2,500 turkeys allIslanders havea special meal over the holidays.

Meaghan Blanchard is riding a wave of popularity from a video gone viral. Her riff on aDixie Chicks song, which she called I'm Not Ready to Scrape Ice has over 190,000 views on YouTube. It received a shout out from the Dixie Chicks on their Facebook page adding to the popularity.

Gordie MacKeeman and his group The Rhythm Boys were recently named tothe Top 10 Festival Acts of 2015 list in Europe. The high energy performance of MacKeeman has been filling festival halls all over the world.

Gordie will be bringing along his bass player, Thomas Webb, who also plays with Blanchard.

Jon Matthews is an award-winning producer and musician. Always willing to give back to the community,Jon has just produced a holiday CD called A Special Island Christmas to support Special Olympics P.E.I.

There'll also be a debut for a new group on Island Morning's live show. FORTE is a men's chorus formed in Charlottetown in October. Under director Margot Rejskind, the group will have its first public performance in the CBC lobby just before 7 a.m.

As if that's not enough there'll be coffee and treats for everyone who drops by.
