The leader of the Green Party of P.E.I. is holding a meeting next week to hear ideas and concerns from his constituents about municipal amalgamation.

Peter Bevan-Baker, who is the MLA forKellys Cross Cumberland, said he has met with local councils and with some people in unincorporated areas, and there are a lot of questions about what the province has planned and what should be done to prepare.

Change is never easy

"There is just a lack of clarity. People are not sure what is going on," he said.

"There are concerns about loss of identity or change of identity in their particular village or community, what this is going to do to our tax rate, what services are we going to lose or gain?"

Bevan-Baker says change is never easy but the discomfort can be minimized if the process is inclusive.

The meeting will be held July 28 at Bites Cafe in Hampton, P.E.I.
