RCMP are asking for the public's help in their investigation of a vehicle destroyed by fire in western P.E.I.

Around 4 a.m. Wednesday, East Prince RCMP responded to a vehicle fire in a wooded area near Route 163 and Route 12 in East Bideford.

When police arrived, the Tyne Valley Fire Department had just finished extinguishing the fire, said Acting Sgt. Jerrie MacLeod.

"The early investigation appears that the vehicle went off the road approximately 50 feet into a wooded area. It came to a stop in the trees where it came to rest and caught on fire," she said.

A police dog searched the area but was unable to locate anyone associated with the vehicle.

RCMP are asking anyone who can identify the owner of the vehicle or who may have witnessed the collision or fire to contact them at 902-436-9300.
