P.E.I.'s economic advisory councils looking for members

Islanders interested in helping shape development in their communities are encouraged to submit their names to the province's new regional economic advisory councils.

Islanders interested in helping shape development in their communities are encouraged to submit their names to the province's new regional economic advisory councils.

The councils will guide, develop and help drive economic growth across P.E.I. and provide advice to the premier and cabinet on the future direction of our Island communities, according to a news release from the province.

The four chairs of the regional economic advisory councils were introduced Wednesday in Summerside by Premier Wade MacLauchlan and Rural and Regional Development Minister Pat Murphy.

Four chairs introduced

They are:

  • Jason Ramsay, West Regional Economic Advisory Council. Ramsay is a senior representative with McCain Produce and a recognized community leader in West Prince.
  • Rick Kennedy, East Prince/West Queens Regional Economic Advisory Council. Kennedy is a chartered accountant from Summerside and the president of the construction company Curran and Briggs.
  • Jennifer Dunn, Capital/Central Regional Economic Advisory Council. Dunn is a partner at BDO Canada and has more than 20 years of public accounting experience.
  • Scott Annear, East Regional Economic Advisory Council. Annear is the owner and general manager of Morley Annear Ltd., a trucking company located in Montague. He is also involved with River Run Dining Cruises, which operates out of Montague and Georgetown.

Islanders can apply to join one of the councils through Engage PEI.
