Former most-wanted fugitive back in Toronto after being arrested on P.E.I.

A Toronto man who was one of Canada's most-wanted fugitivesuntil his arrest in P.E.I. last week is now back in his home province.

Charlottetown police confirm Toronto officers took Michael Bebee back to Ontario

A Toronto man who was one of Canada's most-wanted fugitivesuntil his arrest on Prince Edward Islandlast week is now back in his home province.

Charlottetown police Chief Brad MacConnellsays detectives with the Toronto Police Serviceescorted Michael Bebee, 35, back to Ontario on Saturday.

Toronto police had issued a Canada-wide warrant for Bebee's arrestin connection with the July 23, 2023, shooting death ofShamar Powell-Flowers in Toronto's east end.

Bebee is accused of second-degree murder in relation to the incident. The matter has not yet been before the courts.

On April 23, Bebee waslisted as the most wanted man in the countryby the Bolo Program, a project run by the Stphan Crtier Foundation, which helps raise awareness aboutthe country'smost wanted suspects and offers rewards for tips. The name Bolo is an acronym for "be on the lookout."

One week later,Charlottetown police officers arrested Bebee without incident near the corner of Belvedere Avenue and Queen Street, acting onToronto police information that he could be on the Island.

Bebee was jailed at the Provincial Correctional Centre in Charlottetown until the detectives arrived to take him back to Toronto.

Toronto police have said Powell-Flowers was shot after he intervened in an altercation nearDanforthand Carlawavenues in Toronto.

At the time of the incident, Bebee was under a gun prohibition for his part in another Toronto shooting four years earlier, according to Torontopolice Chief Myron Demkiw.
