Charlottetown could be seeing more vegetable gardens in city parks.

City of CharlottetownCoun. Mitch Tweel said the vegetable garden pilot project in Orlebar and Victoria cityparkswas so successful, he wants to see it expanded.

"Response from the community has been overwhelming. We planted some vegetables and people are welcome, neighbours are welcome to go and pick whatever they want," said Tweel.

"I want to look for new opportunities throughout the rest of the city. I don't have particular sites, specific sites in mind, but this is something that I will be discussing with staff, we want to engage the community."

Tweel said he'd like to see the initiative expanded into something similar to Desbrisay Community Garden, which is operated by community volunteers.
