Green Diamond Equipment finds new Summerside location

A farm equipment store in Summerside has found a temporary location after a fire destroyed its building last weekend.

Green Diamond Equipment is setting up shop in Hanger 4 in Slemon Park, said CEO Tina Sears.

Equipment salvaged from the building is being moved to the new location.

The company hopes to be open for business by Sept. 12, but Sears said customers looking to have equipment serviced can still contact them by calling 436-4244.

"It's all hands on deck to be up and running," she said.

Green Diamond's building on Locke Shore Road caught fire on Aug. 27. About 45 people worked at the building, and 12 on weekends. There were no injuries.

'Let's just get this done'

Tracey Suley,manager of marketing and communications, said the past week has been chaotic and extremely busy but "all in all, very productive."

Suley said the time has been spent organising staff, getting things together and finding a new location.

While some staff had Monday off to deal with the loss of the building, she said, all were working to get things set up.

"We still have things to do signageand setting up shop."

She said the entire staff wanted to get the operation up and running for their customers.

"I'm relatively new to the company, less than one year, and I was absolutely fascinated by how everyone sort of just [said], 'Let's just get this done.'"

Suley said the company plans to rebuild at the same location but had no timeline on when that would happen.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, a spokesperson for the fire marshal's office said Friday.
