Police investigating report of razor blade found in Halloween candy bar

Charlottetown police are asking residents to check Halloween treats after they received a report of arazor blade beingfound in a chocolate bar.

Deputy Chief Gary McGuigan said the chocolate appears to have been a peanut butter cup but police haven't seen the wrapper.

He said the chocolate and the object are being sent for positive identification.

Police said the report came in Wednesday afternoon.

The area of the city where the report came from is not being released. Police say that is part of the investigation.

Police issued a reminder on social media Wednesday night asking parents to take a close look at Halloween candy.

Reports across Canada

The incident was one of several reports of candy being tampered with in Canada this Halloween.

A 12-year-old boy slashed his finger on a razor blade stuck in a Kit Kat bar he received while trick or treating in Spryfield, N.S.

In another incident, Ottawa police found a girl who reported needles in her candy had placed them there herself.
