The event called Herb Day continues until 4 p.m. at the PEI Farm Centre. It's being put on by the PEI Food Exchange, a volunteer group trying to improve food security for themselves and their communities.

The workshops also included salsa-making and how to spot weeds that can be good for you.

"Weeds can become your best friend because they're just plants that are growing in the wrong place, according to humans, but many, many weeds have medicinal properties and many weeds are actually edible," said organizer Pauline Howard.
