The Jack Frost Children's Winterfest this weekend is still seeking a few more volunteers, says the festival's director of marketing and sponsorship Jennifer Paynter.

The annual festival attracts about 14,000 people from around the Maritimes. For the second year, the festival will be held at the Charlottetown Event Grounds and will feature slides, skating, buskers and ice carvings of dinosaurs and dragons.

Usually about 200 volunteers help with various activities and a few spots still need to be filled.

"Right now we are looking for about 10 to 15 more people to help out, primarily outdoors at the slides," said Paynter.

"Just helping with lineups, making sure everyone is being respectful and safe while enjoying the outdoor snow kingdom."

Volunteers also enjoy being part of the fun and are given incentives such as a Jack Frost tuque, a complementary lunch at Tim Hortons and a free weekend pass to the festival, said Paynter.

"We are also looking for some extra people who will help manage the gates at the indoor playland at the Eastlink Centre," Paynter added.

The ice and snow structures have fared well in the mild weather of the last day or so, she said. They were covered with tarpaulins and need a few minor repairs.

The festival runs Feb. 19 to 21.
