RCMP take man into custody after incident in Souris, P.E.I. ends without injuries

RCMPin Souris, P.E.I., say an incident that shut down the community from 6 p.m. Friday until close to midnight ended with one man in custody and no injuries.

Police said they had been dealing with a "potentially armed and barricaded person"

RCMPin Souris, P.E.I., say an incident that shut down the community from 6 p.m. Friday until close to midnight ended with one man in custody and no injuries.

Throughout the evening policehadbeendealing with what they described as a"potentially armed and barricaded person."

RCMPwereat a "secured" single location inthe centre of town and askedpeople to remain homeand stay inside.

Neighbours described seeing many armed officers and police vehicles active in the area throughout the evening.

Town fire chief Colin LaVie said fire crews responded to a caraccidentnear the causeway around 5:30 p.m. that was unrelated, and sent one person to hospital.

Fire department vehicles wereused to block off some streets in the town.
