CBC P.E.I. to host public discussion on mental health

CBC P.E.I. is holding a public conversation on whether current mental health services are meeting the needs of Islanders, on Wednesday, March 14.

Mental health services in P.E.I. have been said to be in crisisby some while those within the system say that hard work has made for ongoing majorimprovements.

What do you think? Iswhat's available now meeting the need on the Island?

CBC P.E.I.'sPeace of Mindproject has presentedstories looking at what services are offered on the Island, and whether people are able to access the care they need, when they need it.Now, we're putting the question to you ata public event.

Panellists will include:

  • Dr. Heather Keizer, chief of mental health and addictions.
  • Sarah Stewart Clark, founder of #HowManyWade.
  • Bruce Davison, manager of Community Mental Health and Addictions West.
  • Verna Ryan,chief administratorof mental health and addictions.

The forum will be held Wednesday, March 14, at 7 p.m. at The Guildin Charlottetown.

Audience members, both in person and online, will be invitedto share their experiences, express their opinionsor ask questions of the panellists.

The event is currently full, however there is still an opportunity to participate online.CBC P.E.I. will be streaming the discussionlive on our Facebook page, where viewers from around the province will be able to weigh in.
