Collision with transport truck sends motorcycle driver to hospital

The motorcycle was traveling north on Route 248, and the transport truck was heading south when the two collided, RCMP said.

A collision between a motorcycle and a transport truck temporarilyclosed a portion of a road in Milton Station and sent one man to hospital.

Around 1 p.m., amotorcycle travelling north on Route 248 collided with atransport truck, which was heading south, Queens District RCMP said.

The motorcycle sustained extensive damageand the driver, a 27-year-old man, was taken toQueen Elizabeth Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the truck sustained no injuries, RCMP said.

Route 248between Route 225 and Route 2 wasclosed for a period, but has since been reopened,RCMP said.

Queens District RCMP, the RCMP's traffic unit, Island EMS and the North River fire department responded to the collision, police said.

RCMP collision analysts were on scene Thursday to try to determine the cause of the collision.
