Open Farm Day is an annual event held in the three Maritime provinces.

Farms participating included dairy farms, organic farms, livestock, woodlots, orchards and wineries.

Yanira Greener, a volunteer at Charlottetown's organic Legacy Garden, was happy to welcome guests because she said it's important people know how to grow their own food.

"It's a great skill to have, to know how to grow your own food, especially in these times, and use an organic method," she said. "I mean, everybody needs to eat."
