RCMP are asking the public for any information they may have regarding a fire in the eastern P.E.I. community of Souris on Monday.

In a news release, RCMP said they found evidence that a fire in a garage on MacPhee Avenue on August 5 was deliberately set.

The structure wassaved, but it did sustain damage, said RCMP Sgt. Shaun Coady. No one was inside the garage at the time of the fire and no one was injured.

Coady said RCMP believe Monday's garage fire is connected to a cottage fire that took place on the same streeton July 29. He said the earlier fire is also believed to be arson.

"We believe that they're likely targeted incidents," he said. "At this time, there is not likely a threat to the greater public."

Anyone with information on either fire is being asked to contact the Souris or KingsRCMPdetachments. Information can also be anonymously reported through Crime Stoppers.
