It's going to be a wet weekend on P.E.I.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement in response to the rain forecast for Saturday. The forecast is for 20 to 30 millimetres.

"There will be pockets of heavier amounts, and the winds are really going to be blowing things around," said CBC meteorologist Tina Simpkin.

"It's going to make it difficult for the windshield wipers to keep up."

The winds will blow at 30 km/h throughout the day Saturday with gusts up to 50 and as high as 70 along the coast. It is possible thunderstorms could form, and that would lead to even more localized rainfall.

Friday will start out sunny but will cloud over by midday. The rain and highest winds, however, won't come until a little before dawn on Saturday.

Simpkin is expected more wet weather on Sunday, althoughit won't bring as much rain as Saturday.
