Three new COVID-19 cases reported on P.E.I. Friday

Prince Edward Island's Chief Public Health Officer announced there arethree new COVID-19 cases on P.E.I. on Friday.

One is in their 30s, another between 12-19, and the third is under 12

Prince Edward Island's Chief Public Health Officer announcedthree new COVID-19 casesFriday.

One person is in their 30s, another is between 12 and19, and the third is under 12.All three had recently travelled outside of P.E.I.

Chief Public Health Officer Dr. Heather Morrison said there are no links to schools or early learningcentres.

"The three individuals tested negative initially, but on a subsequent test tested positive. Contact tracing is underway, and the individuals are self-isolating," Morrison said in a writtenrelease late Friday afternoon.

P.E.I. currently has seven active COVID-19 cases, and has had 312cases since the pandemic began.

Islanders are urged toget testedif they experience anysymptoms of COVID-19, even after a previous negative test, and toself-isolateuntil the results come back.

Everyone encouragedfollow routine prevention:

  • Wash hands frequently with soap and water
  • Cough and sneeze into your elbow or a tissue
  • Get vaccinated
  • Wear a non-medical mask in indoor places
  • Stay home if you are not feeling well
  • Limit touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Keep your circle of contacts small
  • Physical distance - stay two meters (6 feet) apart
  • Don't share items like drinking glasses and water bottles
  • Frequently clean surfaces like taps, doorknobs and countertops
  • Visit a drop-in-clinic to be tested if you have COVID-19 symptoms
