Police seize weapons in Nine Mile Creek

Queens District RCMP are investigating after they seized a number of weaponsfrom a home in Nine Mile Creek.

Police said they obtained a search warrant after they investigatedreports of shots fired in the area.

RCMP believe a man had discharged a gun to scare a dogon his property.

In a news release police saidas they were questioning the man about the firearm that was used when they discovered other weapons in the residence. Police saythey seized shotguns, rifles, restricted handguns, cross-bows and ammunition. RCMPcited unsafe storage in therelease.

"Firearms need to be fully secured and separate and apart from any ammunition in accordance with the law," said Cst. Kim Dudley.

"This provides assurance to the general public in the event that the weapons fall into the wrong hands."

The matter is currently under investigation. No charges have been laid.
