Ultimate Race coming to P.E.I.

Islander Wayne Arsenault, now living in Calgary, started an event called the Ultimate Race, similar to the popular TV race show. He is bringing his version to P.E.I. this summer to raise money for KidSport PEI.

While watching a popular race show on TV one day, Islander Wayne Arsenault got the idea to put together a similar event.

Arsenault, who lives in Calgary, is bringing his version of the show, the Ultimate Race, home to the Island this summer to raise money for KidSport PEI.

"It gets people out of their comfort zone and it'sfun," Arsenault said Friday on Island Morning.

The event started in Calgary with a few friends racing around the city. The event is close to a full-time job for Arsenault and now offers a way for charities to raise money and businesses for team building exercises.

Arsenault explained the P.E.I. event will involve teams of two participants lining up at the start line, receiving clues and then following the clue to a location, where they will embark on some challenges and activities. They will then receive another clue and go to another location.

Arsenault said thechallenge is working with businesses and getting them onboard with the event, especially since participants could be arriving at their doorstep at different times of the day.

Even so, Arsenault sees the event as a "fun day of running around" that will likely take Islanders to parts of P.E.I. that they haven't been to before.
