A busy parking lot at the University of Prince Edward Island is getting some new accessible spots in an effort to create a more inviting campus, says Greg Clayton, director of facilities management at the university.

"We're always striving to continue to make the campus more accessible," said Clayton.

"We just consulted withsome of the community and accessibility services [at UPEI], and we're going to be adding an additional two spaces."

'As inviting as possible'

The new spaces will be in addition to the 39 that are already available and will be located at the front of the campus facing University Avenue. The university has targeted these spots forstudents and staff, since UPEI has additional accessible spaces for the general public at the adjacent sports facility.

The new spots are in response to feedback from students and staff,Clayton said.

"We've done a lot of work over the last decade, really on our buildings and in the parking areas, to try and make our campus as inviting as possible," Clayton said.
