$252K Saskatchewan jackpot winner from Ontario

The winner of the 50-50 draw from the Grey Cup game says it was a magical visit to Regina, Peter Mills reports.

One of the biggest-ever Saskatchewan 50/50 jackpots has been claimed by an Ontario man.

As of 6 a.m. CST Tuesday morning, the $252,087 prize had yet to be claimed, but later in the morning, a winner stepped forward: DennyCharlebois, who's from Manotick in the Ottawa area.

TheUniversity of Regina Ramssaid the50/50 ticket sale during Grey Cup weekraised more than $504,000.

A quarter of the money will go to the Rams football program, while another quarter will be distributed by the SaskatchewanRoughriders to groups and programs around the province.

The jackpot is believed to be a record-setter. In September 2013, a Rams 50/50 winner received $94,902.

The winning ticket number wasG-944168.

On Sunday, the Saskatchewan Roughriders defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 45-23 forthe Canadian Football League championship.
