South Regina residents say they are disturbed over recent shootings in their neighbourhood.

Late on Sunday evening, a 33-year-old woman was shot outside a Pizza Hut on the 4500 block of Albert Street.

Half an hour later, a 23-year-old man was shot near a McDonald's just a block away.

Both victims have non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the victims didn't know each other and that has fuelled speculation that the shooter or shooters randomly targeted people. Regina Police Chief Troy Hagen said he's disturbed by the fact the two victims did not know each other.

"These very well indeed may be random acts of violence against innocent people in our community," Hagen said.

On Nov. 12, police investigated two other incidents of shots being fired into the windows of a home and a business very close to the two most recent shootings.

The first happened on the 4600 block of Albert Street. The second happened about 30 minutes later just a few blocks away on the 2400 block of Gordon Road.

Bob Cochrane lives in the area where the shooting occurred. While Cochrane said he's on guard, he added he is not living in fear.

"I'm not too concerned if it's a random act. It could be in another area," Cochrane said. "Or these people may have been on a one-time adventure and I'm confident in our local police force that they will bring this to a just end."

Police say they will have an increased presence in the neighbourhood.

Eric Burlock lives on the 2400 block of Gordon Road, the same street where one of the Nov. 12 shootings occurred.

"It's scary. You don't wanna stand by your windows. You don't wanna walk your dog. You don't wanna do anything really," Burlock said.
