COVID-19 in Sask: 2 new cases, 19 more recoveries

Two new cases of COVID-19 were announced in Saskatchewan Saturday, with 19 more recoveries and five people in hospital. The number of active cases is now 117.

Two new cases of COVID-19 were announced in Saskatchewan Saturday, with 19 more recoveries, bringing the number of active cases to 117.

The two new cases come from Saskatoon and the southwest region of the province.

Five people, all in Saskatoon, are in hospital with COVID-19. One person isin in-patient care and four are in intensive care.

The province said out of the 117 active cases, 76 are in communal living settings, which is the term it has been using to describe Hutterite colonies.

Saskatchewan has now had a total of1,597 reported cases of COVID-19, and a total of1,458 people have recovered. There have been 22 COVID-19-related deaths in the province.

There were 1,757 COVID-19 tests performed Friday.

Westjet flight exposure

On Friday, the province announced there was possible exposure on a flight from Calgary to Saskatoon on Aug. 9.

Anyoneon WestJet FlightWS452seated in rows 1-5should self-monitor for symptoms of COVID-19.

Regina shoe store exposure

The Saskatchewan Health Authority also announced someone who tested positive for COVID-19 was atthe Designer Shoe Warehouse store in Regina's Harbour Landing several times last weekend.

They were in the storeon August 14 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., August 16 from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., August 17 from noon to 1 p.m., August 19 from noon to 8:30 p.m., andAugust 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The SHA is asking individuals who visited the store during these timesto self-isolate if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.

Prince Albert exposures

The SHA said another individual who tested positive forCOVID-19 visited two stores in Prince Albert while likely infectious.

Anyone who visited the Dollarama store on 2nd ave West between 10 a.m and noon or the the Safewayon 2nd ave Westbetween 10 a.m and noon on August 21 shouldself-isolate if they have any symptoms.
