Fire destroys general store in Edam, Sask.

The village of Edam, Sask., has losta key business its general store to a fire.

"It's the only store we have in town. It's been there forever," said Danielle Troesch, who lives outside the community andsaid the flames could be seen from her driveway.

The fire happened at about 3:15 a.m. CST Wednesday in the small community located about 60 kilometres northwest of North Battleford, Sask.

Turtleford RCMPsaid the Edam Fire Department was able to contain the fire to the onebuilding.

"The building next to itthey were able to save, although there may be some water in the basement,"Troesch said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
