Funnel clouds seen in Sask. amidst weather warnings

Environment Canada says conditions are favourable for funnel clouds.

Funnel clouds are possible today in east central parts of Saskatchewan.

According to Environment Canada an unstable airmassis bringingrainand thunderstorms late this morning and early this afternoon, creatingconditions that arefavourable for funnel clouds.

People are sharing snapshots of funnel clouds in their areas,onsocial media. Funnel clouds were spotted near Melfort, Elstow and Lenore Lake, Sask.

"These types of funnel clouds are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado," read a release from Environment Canada.
