Conservative candidate Trent Fraser's campaign team has been granted a judicial recount of the election results in the Regina-Lewvan riding.

On election night, Elections Canada declaredNDP candidate Erin Weir the winner with a 143 vote lead over Fraser. The vote difference showing now, however, is 132 votes.

On Tuesday, theConservative Party of Canada Electoral District Association (EDA) sent out a news release saying it had askedFraser'scampaign to call for therecount.

"We want to ensure that every vote cast in last Monday's election was properly counted,"EDA President Theo Brysonsaid in the release."With such a close margin in this race, all voters of Regina-Lewvan need to know that the counting process was done correctly."

Kelly Gallagher, Trent Fraser's campaign manager, said they want to make sure "the process was followed properly" and "every ballot was counted."

"We will just wait and see what comes of that," Gallagher said.

The recount begins this Thursday morning at 9 a.m. at the Elections Canada office. Gallagher said he expects the recount will take two or three days.

"The margin of difference is .0027 based on, you know, the 49,000 votes that were cast. So it was a very close vote and we want to ensure every vote is counted."
