Man, 43, dies in workplace accident near Mankota

A 43-year-old man has been killed in a workplace accident near Mankota, in southern Saskatchewan.

A 43-year-old man has been killed in a workplace accident near Mankota, in southern Saskatchewan. It happened on Tuesday around 12:30 p.m. CST.

According to RCMP, the man was working on Highway 18 about two kilometres west of Mankota, when he became trapped under a piece of machinery.

RCMP said he died at the scene. His name was not being released, although RCMP said he is from Kelvington, Sask.

They said other workers at the scene were not injured. The highway in the area was closed for the investigation and re-opened a few hours later.

RCMP added the investigation of the man's death is being handed over to the province's occupational health and safety division.

Mankota is about 270 kilometres southwest of Regina.
