77-year-old man dead following collision west of Moose Jaw

A 77-year-old man is dead following a collision Wednesday between two vehicles on Highway 1west of Moose Jaw.

The 77-year-old was the driver of one of the vehicles. The driver of the other vehicle, a 44-year-old man, was uninjured, RCMP said in an emailed statement Thursday.

In a news release sent just after 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, RCMP said the two-vehicle collision, which happened about five kilometres west of Moose Jaw,had forced the closure ofeastbound lanes of the highway. Traffic wasdetouredthrough the city.

RCMP said just before10 p.m. Wednesday that the highway had reopened.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the collision, police said Thursday, and the investigation is ongoing.
