Record rain, snow over much of southwest Saskatchewan

It's been a soggy year on the Prairies, with Saskatchewan the ground zero of rain and snow.

Agriculture Canada maps show how wet it has been since April 1

It's been a soggy year on the Prairies, with Saskatchewan the ground zero of rain and snow.

New maps from Agriculture Canada show precipitation was higher than average in virtually the entire grain belt this year.

About half of Saskatchewan's cropland saw at least 50 per cent more rain and snow than normal between April 1 and Oct. 10.

When looking at long-term historical data, the change was even more dramatic, particularly in the southwest.

In that region, record precipitation was received over a wide area, with some spots getting more than twice the normal amount.

The light blue areas are where precipitation was 150 to 200 per cent of normal between April 1 and Oct. 10. The dark blue indicates where it was more than 200 per cent. (Agriculture Canada)
