Regina family finds adopted son on Facebook

After 35 years, a Regina family has reunited with anadopted son. Pat Cameron and her daughter Kyla Towsley are relieved and surprised that their long search is over.

"It was just complete and utter shock," Towsley said.

Cameron gave up her son for adoption in 1980 when she was young and didn't have the means to take care of him. At the time his name was David.Thirty-five years later, the mother and daughterdecided to search for him. They started with a post on Facebook, and after getting media attention, finally found him. His adoptivefamily saw the storyin the news, and contacted Cameron and Towsley.

The adoptivefamily gave them "David's"new name. Towsley looked him up on Facebook and sent him a message.

"I just kind of said 'I'm not really sure what to say, but you know, some people in your family said I should contact you, saying that you're the person I'm looking for,'" she said. "He messaged me back a couple of hours later saying after looking at all the information and everything, I think you're right."

Towsley says her brother had tried to connect with them a few years ago. He even placed an ad on Kijiji, but didn't have any luck.

"He just kind of went on with life thinking that he would never know," Towsley said.

After chatting a bit online, they decided to meet in person earlier this December. He went to Towsley's place for a few hours.

"That was a little odd," Towsley said.

"He looks like my mom. He has a lot of the same mannerisms as my mom. Especially the same eyes, the same nose."

Towsley said he seems to want to have a relationship with them, and the same is true for them.

"I don't think my mom ever really got over it," Towsley said. They had wondered for a long time if he was doing well.

His adoptiveparents had told him the reason he was adopted since he was young, and Towsley said he seemed understanding.

"One of the first things he said was that he had no ill feelings or anything towards it."

Towsley now messages with him, and Cameron talks to him on the phone once a week. They were hoping to get together at Christmas, but ran out of time. Towsley says she hopes they can stay in touch.

"We'll just wait and see."
