Regina police tight-lipped on triple killing

Regina police are not releasing any new information about the killingof three people whose decomposing bodies were foundin a townhouse last Friday.

Autopsies have been completed but the exact causes ofdeath have not been disclosed.

"Policing can not be effective if everyone, including potential suspects, know everything about an investigation,"police Chief Troy Hagen said during a brief news conference Tuesday afternoon.

"An important disclosure loses its value to an investigation if it becomes gossip everyone in the community can hear."

Hagen also refused to confirm the identities of the deceased.

"The one conclusion we will release is, we can now confirm we're dealing with three homicides and we're continuing our investigation into these criminal acts," Hagen said, adding that investigators are currently focused on the Regina area.

The bodies of a man, woman and child were discovered in a townhouse in Regina's north end Friday afternoon. Police later said the bodies had been decomposing for several days.

At a news briefing Saturday, Hagen saidthe three were not killed by gunfire.
