Sask. minimum wage to go up Oct. 1

Saskatchewan's minimum wage earners will get a raise next month.

• Sask. minimum wage to rise to $10.72 in October

The province's minimum wage will go up by 22 cents an hour, from $10.50 to $10.72 beginning Oct. 1, 2016.

The government says there are about 23,200 workers who earn minimum wage, more than half of whom areunder the age of 25 and working in the service industry.

Minimum wage is $11 an hour in Manitoba.

Alberta's minimum wage is $11.20 right now, but it's set to jump by a dollar to $12.20 on Oct. 1, 2016.

Saskatchewan's government says when you factor in its personal tax exemptions and credits, low-income earners in this province have a higher disposable income than those in other provinces.
