Health regions rationing yellow fever vaccines due to shortage

A nationwideshortage of yellow fever vaccines is forcingprovincial health regions to ration their remaining doses.

Full doses will be given to people who:

• Are travelling to a country experiencing an outbreak.
• Are travelling to a country that requires a vaccination to enter.
• Have been living in a yellow fever disease risk country for more than one year.

Those who do not meet the criteria for a full dose will receive a partial dose, which may mean multiple trips to a clinic.

The first trip would be for an assessment and the second for a vaccine itself, which ensures no part of the vaccine is wasted.

The vaccine is available through travel clinics in three cities: Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
