Saskatchewan minimum wage gets a raise

Saskatchewan's minimum wage is going up.

Starting today it will rise from $10 to $10.20 per hour.That means a worker that puts in a 40-hour work week will make about $8 more a week.

Seven years ago the minimum wage was $7.95.It has jumped six times since.

The province says increases will be announced on or before June 30every yearand take effect Oct. 1of the same year.

Saskatchewan and Alberta have the second lowest minimum wagein the country. Newfoundland and Labrador,Northwest Territories andNew Brunswick have a minimum wage of $10 an hour.
