Saskatchewan's minimum wage increasing to $10.50 on Thursday

More than 20,000 workers in Saskatchewan are about to get a raise on Thursday.

Starting on Oct. 1, the minimum wage in Saskatchewan will increase to $10.50 per hour.

The minimum wage is currently $10.20 per hour. It was last increased 20 cents per hour in October 2014.

Don Morgan, labour relations and workplace safety minister, said the increase "reflects the growing economy."

The provincial government first announced the increase in June.

According to the government, there are about 23,800 minimum wage earners in Saskatchewan's workforce.
