Winter pelts Saskatchewan highways: Highway 1 closed after Moose Jaw collisions

Make sure to check the road conditions in your area and think twice about whether you have that roadside emergency pack in your trunk.Saskatchewan roadways are slippery and icytoday, after large snowfalls throughout central and southern regions of the province.

As of 7:30 a.m. CST, Highway 1 is closed in the Moose Jaw area after two early-morning collisions that both involved semi-trucks.

Two semi-trucks collided on Highland Road and Highway 1. There was another collision involving 2 semi-trucks and a third vehicle on on Caribou Street E. and Highway 1. There's not yet any word on injuries for either collision.

The highway is closed eastbound from Highland Road to Manitoba Street E. It's also closed westbound at Caribou Street E.

Travel is not recommended west of Moose Jaw all the way past Chaplin to the intersection with Highway 19.

Provincial highways

• Highway 11 north from Regina, through Saskatoon and all the way north to Prince Albertislisted has having icy or slipperysections, along with blowing anddrifting snow. Travel is not recommend between Regina to Bethune.
• Highway 16 from the Manitoba border all the way to the Alberta border is listed has having icy or slippery sections, along with blowing and drifting snow.

Highway 1

• Travel is not recommended from Belle Plaine, west through Moose Jaw, west through Chaplin, all the way to the junction with Highway 19 south.
• Icy and slippery sections along with blowing and drifting snow from the Manitoba Border, through Regina to Belle Plaine.
• Wet subject to freezing and reduced visibility due to fog west of Swift Current through to Tompkins.
