Saskatchewan Roughriders report $4.3M deficit

It was a dismal year for the Saskatchewan Roughriders on the field last year and financially, too, it turns out.

It was a dismal year for the Saskatchewan Roughriders on the field last yearand financially, too, it turns out.

The CFL football club, which had three wins and 15 losses last season, reported a 2015-16 deficit of $4.3 million at its annual general meeting on Wednesday.

That's compared to a $2.2 million profit in 2014-15.

Gate receipts were actually up slightly to $15.7 million, but merchandise sales were down.

The club sold $7.2 million in Riders jerseys and other gear, leading the CFL, but that was a $2.2 million decrease from 2014-15.
