Despite heavy smoke in the sky, Regina's Prairie Sky Fireworks is ready to light it up.

Despite the smoke across Saskatchewan, the skies will still be illuminated with fireworks on Canada Day.

The Canada Day fireworks show is still on in both Regina and Saskatoon tonight at about 10:30 p.m. CST.

In Regina, Prairie Sky Fireworks is out on Willow Island setting up for the show. Owner Chris Todd said he's been preparing for this night for about six months.

"We have a few cool things this year that we haven't shot in a while," Todd said. "We have UFOs, or saucers they're called, which are an effect that kind of starts on the ground and they start spinning and it goes up in the air."

"I don't want to give it away too much, but it'll be the start of the show."

Todd is advising people who want to see the show to come to Wascana Park.

"Unlike other years where you can go on your rooftop or any other parts of Regina," he said. "This year is going to be a lot more difficult to see the show if you're not close."

The fireworks show also means there will be some traffic restrictions.

Regina police said spectators will be able to view the fireworks display from the Albert Street Bridge, which will be a pedestrian-only zone from about 9:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.
