Starbucks employee steals $3K from government

At least two of Saskatchewan's health regions are recovering from some thefts this Christmas one involving a grande sum of coffee money.

The news of the thefts comesin the province'slatest report on the loss of public money.

The Saskatoon Health Region will be getting some money back from a former Starbucks employee after she pocketed about$3,000 over an eight-month period.

It happened at the Starbucks at the Royal University Hospital.

When that franchise opened seven years ago, the health region said it hired a manager and five union employees to run it.

The employee stole the money by deleting customer orders after the sale was entered and taking cash out of the register, thegovernment said in a news release.

When questioned, the employee admitted to the theft and then resigned.

The Regina Health Region also recovered more than $5,000 worth of stolenplastic pipe. A contractoradmitted to stealing the pipe andreturned it.
