Woman killed in Melfort, Sask., motor vehicle-train crash

One person is dead and another has been seriously injured in a train-motor vehicle accident in Melfort, Sask.

Melfort is about 95 kilometres southeast of Prince Albert, about 172 km northeast of Saskatoon and about 280 km north of Regina. (Bing Maps)

One person is dead and another has been seriously injured in a train-motor vehicle accident in Melfort, Sask.

It happened at a marked railroad crossing in the city on Sunday at around 3 p.m. CST, the RCMP said in a news release.

Police found a woman, 51, dead at the scene.

The other person in the vehicle, a 49-year-old man, was taken to hospital in Saskatoon by STARS air ambulance.

RCMP continue to investigation the crash with the assistance of CN police and a collision reconstructionist.
